Intro to Home Defense

Introduction to Home Defense is designed to bring civilians into the world of Close Quarters Battle (CQB) in terms and conditions that they will most likely be applied. The student will learn the safest and most effective ways to defend themselves and their families should they find a violent aggressor in their home. These techniques apply to buildings in general and we will discuss scenarios in public settings as well. These techniques will be reinforced by the use of Force on Force reality based training tools.

Prerequisite: None (However prior firearms experience or Intro to Tactical Pistol is recommended)

The following topics will be covered during the course:
⦁ The reality of defending your home and family
⦁ Dynamics of a home invasion
⦁ Terror event in a public area
⦁ Principles of Close Quarters Battle
⦁ Angles (it’s all about angles)
⦁ Open doors
⦁ Closed doors
⦁ Fatal funnel
⦁ Corners and doorways
⦁ Low/no light

Ammunition Requirements: None (Force on Force Non-Lethal Training Ammunition and weapons will be provided)
Gear List: Pistol, holster, handheld flashlight, pistol mounted light (optional, but recommended), clear wraparound eye protection (reading type glasses are not acceptable), water

* Wear clothing that you don’t mind tearing and/or staining
** Force on Force marking cartridges will be used during scenarios and may result in welts or bruises. Long sleeves recommended, no shorts. Additional protective equipment is provided.
